New Paintings a plenty

Even though I havn't posted in a while, I have still been painting and keeping busy. I've mostly been doing the little landscape paintings, which I framed and put a little magnet on the back of so they can be fridge art. I'm going to post them all once a day for a little bit, so get ready for the new painting extravaganza to celebrate the start of march. This first painting is one of my favorites. It's 3" x 3" and its done in acrylics. Weee

More Wee Paintings

I finished some more wee little paintings these past few days. The one on the left may be my new favorite. These were all from pictures I took on my cross country road trip. I have a fun idea of how to present them now too, which I will have some pictures of once I finish up a few of them. Im going to frame them in the same style I have been making for my bigger paintings, them put a little magnet on the back, and a sawtooth hanger. That way people can put them on their fridge just like regular magnets, or they can hang them up on the wall.

Oh yeah, and the still life is coming along well, it's close to about half way now maybe. Weee.

New Little Paintings

These have been a fun little side project for me lately. They are all either 2"x3" and are done in acrylics because I am currently oil paintless. I've found small paintings are fun because its really nice to just start and finish a painting in one sitting, it's a good change of pace from my new colored pencil still life I've been doing, which is super tedious. I'll have pictures of that once it's done, but It's gonna be one of a couple I am going to make to send to the CPSA competition this year. Wee

Paintings

With all the free time I've had before I leave on my trip, I've been able to get out and do some plein air painting again. This one was done a few weeks ago about a half an hour south of Columbus. The wheat fields were all turning golden orange and they were spread out for miles and miles, it was quite the sight.

Then a few days ago I wanted to mess around with adding a bunch of texture to a similar painting. There aren't quite storms like this in ohio, but it was fun to make it up. The texture worked out alright, but I wasn't exactly sure how I was going to do the storm clouds yet so some of it feels out of place I think. Next time I will start with the composition in mind when adding the texture.
I also did a few smaller 5" x 5" paintings, and I think I am going to try and bring a bunch on my trip so I can do quick paintings all across the country.

Still Life

A still life from last year that I finally got a decent quality picture of. It was 15" x 30" if my memory is right.

Landscape

I found a landscape I did last year. It was on display in last years student show, took awhile for me to find it again after. Its about 8" by 24", done in oils.  Its gonna be for sale at the art sale too. wee.

Miniscapes

These are two of the 5" by 5" landscapes I'll be selling at the student sale this year. The date is coming up soon, just about a month if my maths right. Im starting to get a lot thicker with the paint lately. And these canvases are about 2" thick and they are painted on the sides too so they have four more sides of fun than you can see here.

Some Landscape action

These are two oil paintings I did a few weeks back that I finally remembered to photograph. They are part of an ongoing series/idea of slightly abstracted clouds and landscapes in unusual formats. I plan on selling them at the CCAD student sale this year, along with a whole bunch of other goodies. These are both 12" x 24". Hope yalls like them because I plan on making a whole bunch of them.

Colored pencil fun

I feel like I have done way more work so far this semester than any other, weird. Well here is a still life I have been working on for a few weeks now, it's just about done now. It's basically a big head nod to Mr. Tolstedt, I have loved his colored pencil work for years now so I decided to do something like this for the drawing competition her at CCAD. I'm entering another one too, but that one is still in the works. This one is about 15" by 18", and its on mat board.

Landscapin it

Here is the first landscape I did for my oil painting class. It is based off of the quick digital ones, but I went a little bit more tight and it's a lot bigger. This one is 24" by 30" and the next one will be too, but I want the last couple to be really big. When I got done with this I wanted there to be less sky and more ground, so I may do another try later or on a smaller canvas later. But I like the way this came out for the most part, I hope you guys do too.

Still Life

In my still life painting class we are starting to crank out nice pieces, this one was three sessions.   We just started on a 24" by 30" piece, its a lot of canvas to fill but Im excited for it. This one was 16 x 20 and its an oil painting. And hopefully I will have a bunch more post real soon cause our first round of projects are all coming down to it in the next few weeks.
