Almost done

I cant believe it's been over a month since I've posted. But don't worry, I'm still alive, and even more exciting, I'll be graduating in just a few short weeks. I have been busy doing some fun things in my ceramics class lately, and glass blowing too, but due to lack of camera those fun things will have to wait to get posted. Until then it's more sketches for you, this is how the life of a butterfly goes.. from happy caterpillar, to sleepy cocoon, to high flyin' risk taker.

Wee little dinosaur

So I've been hankerin to draw some dinosaurs for the past few days, and I finally stopped glassblowing long enough to get this little triceratops down. It wants to be friends with the prehistoric lady bug.

T-Shirt Design

A t-shirt design for my local rock climbing gym, Vertical Adventures. I did two other designs for them but this one is the most silly so it's my favorite. It's for their youth climbing team, but it might get used for just a t-shirt they'll sell too. I sure hope they go with this one though cause who wouldn't want a shirt that has butterflies, sharks, mountain goats, tigers, n geckos all in one.

Sketch a day #3

So if your counting days, even the least clever of people can tell this wasn't quite an every day thing so far. I got caught up in ceramics, and glass blowing and got bored with the silly characters i was doing. So I went back to my roots, cute things make me much happier. And I already have my sketch idea for tomorrow, it's going to be a continuation of this thing. You'll see...

More frogs

Dave asks for more frogs, he gets more frogs, this time much sillier ones. your welcome.

Sketches

Some silly animal sketches and other nonsense from my sketchbook. But more importantly, my website is up. It's www.quinnkellogg.com so be sure to check that out and let me know what you think. It isn't 100% done yet, but it's pretty close. There's also a link on the side of my blog to it now. So pretty much the idea with the site is that it will be my portfolio site, with the couple of things I think are alright that I've done in it. And this will keep on being where I put all the random stuff I'm doing. So enjoy the new site, and let me know what you think.

Underwater stuff

The work on the children's book has been coming along slowly but surely, these are some sketches of some coral and underwater grass. I have been working on loosening up the feel of background objects, and trying to make the coral into more fun, interactive shapes. Also I've been working on some 3d models for a couple of the fish characters, once I get a few more nice molds of them I'll put those on here.

Fishies

So I feel like this is just becoming my sketchbook blog with how all these last posts have been. None the less here are even more sketches, these are all character designs for background characters in the children's book. I was trying to start each fish with just a simplified shape like a circle or rectangle, then build the fish off of that. There is a whole bunch of fishies on these pages so enjoy.

Floatin Around

So my senior year here at CCAD has officially started and it looks like it is going to be a fun one. I got into the glassblowing class, so I should have some cool pictures of that. I've never done it before in my life but I'm hoping to crank out some cool stuff. I also have a 3d illustration class, another thing I don't do much of, but it looks to be a fun class too. So overall I think I should have some nice posts of some new types of stuff you don't usually see from me. I thought I had to put some kind of picture up to start it off so this is my space man floatin' his way through space, a doodle I did in C.F. Payne's seminar class.

Weekly Caricature number 1

So I actually got a caricature done this week, thanks to Dave for his nagging. This is Benicio Del Toro, he has those squinty eyes that made it easy to get the likeness. This is the first week of the caricature a week, I think next week I will try and do a more finished one instead of just a little sketch. Again, will see how that goes, this is the busy time of year. Enjoy.

Sketchbook

So I had some fun drawing a couple quick caricatures last night in the sketchbook. The one of Tom Cruise may look a little bit too much like he is drunk, but I like the way the Bill murray one came out. I decided I may want to try and do at least one caricature in my sketchbook every week. I have tried things like this before, but this time I will try for real. We will see how that goes. Enjoy.

Adirondack Trip

I just got back from a weekend backpacking trip in the Adirondacks. We only got to climb one mountain though, because the second day it was pouring rain for the entire day. Luckily the weather opened up for a little the first day and I got to do a quick sketch from the top of mount Seymore, of the other mountain we were planning on doing that weekend, mount Sewerd.

It was done with an ebony pencil and a white pastel pencil.
