Paintings

With all the free time I've had before I leave on my trip, I've been able to get out and do some plein air painting again. This one was done a few weeks ago about a half an hour south of Columbus. The wheat fields were all turning golden orange and they were spread out for miles and miles, it was quite the sight.

Then a few days ago I wanted to mess around with adding a bunch of texture to a similar painting. There aren't quite storms like this in ohio, but it was fun to make it up. The texture worked out alright, but I wasn't exactly sure how I was going to do the storm clouds yet so some of it feels out of place I think. Next time I will start with the composition in mind when adding the texture.
I also did a few smaller 5" x 5" paintings, and I think I am going to try and bring a bunch on my trip so I can do quick paintings all across the country.
